Concept Based Curriculum

On your journey to becoming a Registered Nurse, all students will have the opportunity to experience an introduction to nursing in some of the area’s premier healthcare agencies. Our partnerships with various communities of interest and numerous nursing specialties will expose you to a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

BSN Admissions Requirements

All applicants must complete the Application Process, which will then be reviewed by the PHSSN Admissions Committee to determine if students meet the following requirements:
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) must be a minimum of a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
  • Completion of all nursing prerequisite courses with a letter grade of ‘C’ or higher with no more than 2 attempts (Letter grade of less than ‘C’ will not be accepted toward Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree)
  • Students must complete the following required courses before admission to PHSSN:
    • Anatomy and Physiology 1 & 2 and have a minimum letter grade of a ‘B’
    • Pathophysiology requires a minimum of 83% as the final grade
    • Chemistry requires a grade of at least ‘C’ with no more than 2 attempts
    • Microbiology requires a minimum letter grade of a ‘B’
  • Students are required to complete the BSN program application through NursingCAS.
  • All general education requirements must be completed prior to enrollment in the nursing program. (HSU Degree Plan and McM Degree Plan)

Applicants are reviewed with a holistic admissions process. NO ENTRANCE EXAM REQUIRED

BSN Application Instructions

All applicants applying to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) must be enrolled in one of the consortium universities. Listed below are additional specifications for applying to the nursing program:

  • Two academic / professional references required upon request.
  • Completion of BSN program application through NursingCAS.
  • Additional information may be requested by the admissions committee.

Apply through Hardin-Simmons University or McMurry University if seeking initial admission to the pre-licensure BSN, and you are not currently enrolled at Hardin-Simmons University or McMurry University.

If you are currently completing your last semester of general education requirements at either Hardin-Simmons University or McMurry University, the application for the BSN program may be completed through NursingCAS. Your pre-nursing advisor and PHSSN can also provide guidance to determine if you are ready to apply to the program.
